If this were the cover for the album I'd definitely be intrigued to hear the music on it, it has the grab that all good covers need so you nailed that. Only critique I can come up with for this is the background feels a little intrusive, it takes away from the centre focus because the lighter shades are closer to the skull. Otherwise a really cool and unique style pulled off really well, keep it up!

Urichov responds:

The album cover thing was actually a joke, but thanks. On the subject of the background, I put the lighter shades closer to the skull because it makes it seem like the skull is the light source of the whole image.

It's a shame people go and vote lowly on art because it goes against their beliefs, good art is good art and I think this was pretty well done to be fair. Background is a bit uninteresting but otherwise your technique is good and style well refined so the low score baffles me. Dont let it stop you from pursuing art, because you have something going for you, oh and happy pride month! :)

There are a few things that could be done to improve this. Notably anatomy, I can guess you probably dont wanna sit through learning how to draw things anatomically, especially if doing stylised art, but trust me it pays to know human proportions before drawing stuff (and it'll improve your stylised work tenfold in the long run). Next is lighting, and while you generally got the light source and shading pretty much spot on, the hair highlights are really distracting. If you're going to do sharp edged shading everywhere else, follow through and make the highlights sharp too.

That being said, this is much higher quality than most stuff in the unscouted submissions haha, so you take my critiques with a grain of salt. Keep working on your art and over time you'll develop something unique to yourself, and feel free to message me if you have any questions about technical drawing tips I'm always open to help :)

(Also just wanna say they're very cute together <3)

The philosopher Theodor Adorno once said that "The task of art today is to bring chaos into order". This is the perfect example of that.

I have many things to praise about this. First of all, I love the way you broke apart everything like one of those diagrams in appliance service manuals, it's so unique and well fitting to your drawing style. The colours are insane too, adding a whole other level of chaos to the piece. And then once you get past the vibrant colours and broken imagery you start to notice all the great little details that just add character and charisma to this guy. I'm hardpressed to fault anything here, because all the points of criticism I'd come up with I can answer myself. "The vibrancy is a bit too much", but if it wasnt this extreme it wouldnt be as effective. "The linework is very rough and unrefined", but that imperfection adds to the feel of the piece. "Some colours aren't within the lines" dude wth you talking about you made an album cover with shit out of the lines.

5 stars, and very well deserving of it, added to faves and definitely following you for more, keep it up!

deathink responds:

thank you very much for your well thought out comment. It means a lot to me.

Jeez this is grim, I love it

Particularly, the rough chalky textures and monochromatic colours, it really drives home that demonic nature this piece has. One critique I'd give though, the cut-off at the bottom is a bit off. I personally would have faded it out to make for that womb-like immersion I think you were going for. If its supposed to be cut off maybe a solid line would help sell it, because its a bit ambiguous (which could be a great thing too so really not much to complain about haha)

All in all though, incredible artwork, one to be proud of I'd say :)

This is a really unique and well stylized take on bipolar disorder. I particularly love the mess of bold colours for how they accentuate the mood shifts people with the condition suffer. I didnt notice it was actually a humanoid figure at first, took a few looks before the shape made sense, I dont know if thats what you aimed for haha but that was my initial reaction (alongside a perplexed "what th- ...oh damn, heck nice").

Really well made, keep it up! :)

This is adorable! I love the relationship between the characters and how well you portrayed it, expressing that can be tough but you nailed it. The background is great too, having enough detail to stay interesting but not too much to be a distraction. If I had to pull some criticisms though, I'd say there are a few textures that aren't as good as others, notably the metal on these lil' cuties being less detailed than the metal framework in the background. I dont think that really impacts the art at all though haha, I'm really only looking for things to nitpick at this point, it's near perfect c:

Keep it up!

Sony-Shock responds:

Awwww, thank you!

And please, I love nitpicks in critiques! Or not so nitpicky, they are useful! I have a lot to learn, SPECIALLY small things like this.
It's actually interesting you mentioned the difference in details... I actually think I overworked the background a little, and I didn't want to make the characters look too realistic (in texture, at least), I always want them soft and cuddly...

It's going to take me a while to control the details since I'm starting to take backgrounds more seriously....

Thank you a lot!

I'm absolutely in love with your art style, it's so characterized and pungent, teeming with creativity. The vibe this gives off is fantastic too, the animals(?) have this naivety to them that fits in nicely with the dark halloween styled setting. I am curious as to why you left some background as parchment rather than filling it out entirely, it's just not something I'd think to do personally. That's really the only criticism I have for an otherwise 10/10 piece, keep it up!

Butzbo responds:

That's a good point about the framing, at first I went for it recalling the look of some storybooks, but it didn't end up as consistant since I still wanted to have some elements expanding beyond the frame, so I expanded the tracks and the 'smoke-being' to use the whole canvas; it may look better on print, but it is an odd experiment indeed, hehh.
Thanks GD! :)

This is damn near immaculate, like I'm struggling to come up with any criticisms for feedback becuase this is the embodiment of the kind of art that I love. The concept, execution and feeling of the piece are so well done, and it's unique as hell too! Even from a more technical standpoint the colours and linework is brilliant. Putting this down as favourite for sure, and gonna check out your other works. Keep up the great work!

This is really well made, I love how you made something as simple as a hook tell so much in this context. The hands are a little weird for me, but that's not to say it's bad, I appreciate the creativity and obscurity it's just not something I would do myself. All in all though a very thought envoking piece, keep it up!
